Rezension: “Momento capriccioso” von Carl Maria von Weber

No. 2 was, if we mistake not, reviewed by us, as a composition, long ago. It is a very original work, and the fingering being added to it, renders it an excellent exercise. This piece exemplifies what we have often advanced on this subject of notation, which here is simple, and, consequently, the reading is made proportionately easy. Weber has written it in six-four time, but prefixed the term prestissimo; so that while the effect is exactly the same as if he had employed quavers and semiquavers instead of crotchets and quavers, the eye is not incommoded by the crowd of black lines which, in the former case, must have darkened the pages, not to mention dirtying the fingers.
