Apel hatte ihm offensichtlich vom Ergehen der Frau Spazier berichtet, der Schulz einst nahegestanden hatte und deren Schicksal ihn noch immer sehr berührte; bedauert, dass Apel wohl die Arbeit an seiner “Legende” aufgegeben habe; schickt ihm Gedichte zur kritischen Lesung, sie sollen in Kürze bei Cotta in deren vierteljährlicher Unterhaltung gedruckt werden; er hat ein Lustspiel geschrieben, das vermutlich zur Ostermesse in Leipzig aufgeführt werden soll.
